Oncology Massage
What is Oncology Massage
Oncology massage is a specialized form of therapeutic touch designed to meet the unique needs of individuals undergoing cancer treatment, those in recovery, or anyone with a fragile state of health.
How is Oncology Massage different to regular Massage
Oncology massage techniques are different to regular massage techniques in that they are specifically designed for someone who is living with cancer or recovering from cancer. The techniques are supported by evidence to be soothing, safe and therapeutic. Massage pressure, speed, duration, location and direction of strokes are individually tailored to accommodate the type of condition and the associated treatment that a person is undertaking. This evidence based therapy supports both a person's physical and emotional wellbeing.
At Quintessential Care we are trained through Oncology Massage Training, the leading providers of oncology massage training in Australasia. Having gained the highest level of certification as an Advanced Practitioner in Oncology Massage Therapy (OM4), we are committed to provide compassionate, tailored care that helps restore comfort, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing.

What to Expect
Before Your Treatment
You will be cared for with professionalism, kindness, and compassion. We’ll take the time to listen to how you’re feeling and review your full medical history, including any medications and treatments you’ve had. Together, we’ll discuss the duration of your massage, the areas to be treated, and the most comfortable body position for you. We’ll also determine the appropriate pressure based on your current symptoms and talk through what you can expect from the session. If you are experiencing peripheral neuropathy we will discuss with you whether you would like to use MLS Medical Laser if appropriate.
During Your Treatment
Throughout the massage, we’ll check in regularly to ensure your comfort and prioritize your safety and wellbeing at all times.
After Your Treatment
We’ll make sure you’re feeling well and explain how you may feel in the days following your session. We’ll also provide guidance on what to do between massages and how often massage therapy may complement your overall treatment plan. Finally, we’ll discuss the best way to continue your massage therapy and help you schedule future appointments if needed.

You don’t need a referral to book an oncology massage. However, if you have any concerns or would like reassurance, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider to ensure this therapy is the right fit for your individual needs.
